‘Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God has commanded you, that your days may be long, and that it may be well with you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

I will be his Father, and he shall be My son. If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men and with the blows of the sons of men.

The Lord is merciful and gracious,Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.

Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,The fruit of the womb is a reward.

The righteous man walks in his integrity;His children are blessed after him.

Train up a child in the way he should go,And when he is old he will not depart from it.

Children’s children are the crown of old men,And the glory of children is their father.

The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice,And he who begets a wise child will delight in him.
