All who found them have devoured them;And their adversaries said, ‘We have not offended,Because they have sinned against the Lord, the habitation of justice,The Lord, the hope of their fathers.’
The Lord is good to those who wait for Him,To the soul who seeks Him.
And I said, “My strength and my hopeHave perished from the Lord.”
It is good that one should hope and wait quietlyFor the salvation of the Lord.
“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,“Therefore I hope in Him!”
Let him sit alone and keep silent,Because God has laid it on him;
Let him put his mouth in the dust—There may yet be hope.
This I recall to my mind,Therefore I have hope.
Then He said to me, “Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. They indeed say, ‘Our bones are dry, our hope is lost, and we ourselves are cut off!’
They have envisioned futility and false divination, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord!’ But the Lord has not sent them; yet they hope that the word may be confirmed.
